For Out of state students, UW definitely is a bit more selective. They tend to focus on rigor of your course load quite a bit, which you have covered pretty well. You’re also a good deal above their 75% percentile range for the SATs. They also take pride in their diversity (which happens to be overwhelmingly asian), so the essays play an important role in their admissions process.

All in all, I’d say you have a very good chance getting into UW. The problem will probably be the money, though. UW isn’t that cheap for oos students, and they’re getting a bit stingy with giving out scholarships/grants.

thanks, my entire family could help me afford it thank god for families. do u know if its easier or harder to get into u wash than u michigan? im so stressed cause i got deffered from michigan. i feel like i lost all hope…

It depends, are you out of state for u michigan?
If so, they’re absolutely ridiculous when it comes to Out of state admissions.

yea i was out of state for michigan. i was expecting to be differed tho i wasnt TOTALLY surprised but i thought i had a good chance to get in as well. the SAT scores reported on collegeboard is absolute bull**** if u saw it there its old scores. but michigan was ridicilious this year really weird plenty of people with 2200 2300 sat, 32-33 act were differed.

im just worried washington mite do the same with me. i was okay with not getting into mich but il be totally devasted if washington does that to me cause its one of my top choices

michigan has really high standards for out of state students, almost on par with UC berkeley/ucla, i presume. I’d say you should just relax for now; keep a good attitude! It won’t help you worrying for four months before the results come, and when they do, I’m sure you’ll be happy :)

I’m not surprised you got deferred from UMich. Your scores are not at or above the 75%ile and your GPA is below the 50%ile. They still have to consider all the in-state students who will be applying. I hope your family is generous to you since UW costs $37K/year. Do you have a safety school?

yeah i hav a safety but what you answered dint have to do with wat i asked.

You shouldn’t be stressed! The only thing that’s not going for you is your GPA, but my friend got in with a 3.4 and lower SAT scores, and definitely not as many extra curriculars! If you were in-state I’d say you’re in for sure, but since you’re out of state I don’t really know how much harder it is. Overall, I’d be shocked if you didn’t get accepted! ONLY FIVE MORE DAYS! (: Good Luck!

It is not hard to get into UW. I applied last year and I got admitted. I didnt have a good Sat score…but I have extracurricular activities and strong Gpa. I still think you will make it. All the best. I am out of state student btw.
