Men's soccer specifically.

um...same question but on men's lacrosse

same question but on men's volleyball

same question but on men's basketball

men's soccer has about 100 freshman try out each fall, about 6 or 7 make it.
yeah, so thats very tough. Most kids in my class that did it played extensively with club teams/odp/private schools
the team has been very good in recent years

My friend and old HS Club Lax teammate who plays for the Penn Club Lax team says that it isn't difficult to "make" the team, as anyone can go out and practice. BUT, freshmen get very little PT in games, and the team is very competitive. You are playing with a lot of really talented Northeasterners who have skill to play for a varsity team but decided not to, so the point is, you need to be pretty good to get off the bench.

That being said, there is no coach, and practices consist of the guys getting together just once a week to play some lacrosse, have some fun and blow off some steam.

Do you need to have previous qualifications to even try out for a club sport? For example, in tennis, do you need some tournaments under your belt or a national rank? Or can I just go try out?

i talked to some penn kids this weekend and they said that:

the frisbee and soccer teams are very competitive to make
the tennis team is not

thats cuz people that play tennis are pusssies
