How hard is it to switch major at Cal Poly Pomona

Hello,
So I got provisional admission to Cal Poly Pomona as an English Major but I’m having second thoughts. What I really want to do is study animals science or animal behavior, will this be hard to do? When should I change majors?

Since you want to change from an non-impacted to an impacted major, there is supplemental criteria needed to change such as required courses and a specific GPA.

You can only apply to change into an impacted major during Fall Quarter after you have completed the courses listed below:

For Animal Health science you need to meet the following criteria:
3.2 Overall GPA
“C” or better in: STA 120, CHM 121/121L, BIO 115/115L or 121/121L, and ENG 104 or 105

For Animal Science:
3.5 Overall GPA
“C” or better in: STA 120, CHM 121/121L, BIO 115/115L or 121/121L.

I would talk with an advisor during Freshman orientation to make sure you will be on track to switch by the following year Fall 2018.

One more thing, by the stated GPA like 3.5, does that have to be my overall GPA of my Freshman year in college or my High school GPA?

3.5 College GPA. Once you are in college, your GPA resets.
