I'm currently enrolled as an economics major at stern, does anyone know how hard would it be to transfer to a finance major?

have you already declared? how far have you gotten through the econ major, and how many credits do you have left? from what i know finance is 16 credits, so if you can fit that you’re golden.

best bet would be to talk to advising, they’re doing quick visits right now.

you wouldn’t need to “transfer” per-say but just declare finance instead of econ.

i’m currently in high school right now, but on the common application i applied as economics. I have taken any classes at NYU yet. Would it be possible for me to transfer to a business-finance major without missing out on any classes?

Each major has specific courses and credits you must meet. Just because you declare yourself an economics major doesn’t mean anything until you start taking economic classes that meet those requirements. It is very common for people to change majors up until they are Juniors.

ah i see, so it wouldn’t be hard for me to change to finance when I get to NYU? thanks for all the helpful responses!

Dude then don’t worry, when I applied I put down information systems but i’m also going to major in finance. you don’t declare until the end of sophomore year so you have plenty of time.

It shouldn’t be a problem. Your advisor should be able to fix it for you. I’m a freshman at CAS and during orientation I was put in the Engineering group because that’s what I put on my application. I told my advisor that I wanted to do Chemistry and he dropped me from the engineering group.
