How are the classes and competition between students like? Also, do you have to be super math inclined to do well?

The classes in the business administration major are actually pretty easy. The reason why it is tough to get into the major is because it is a fairly new program, so they can only accept a small number of applicants due to the limited resources they have. The math in the business administration major does not get too intensive. The highest math you need to know is Math 2B which is equivalent to Calculus B/C

Ah ok I see. I am pretty weak in math so I am worried that I won’t do well.

Since the program is new, would you also consider it to be weak? And what are majority of the classes business admin majors have to take like?

The undergrad program is new, but the school’s MBA has been in UCI for a while. Most of the classes are general business classes. But once you become a junior, you get to pick a specialization. (Accounting, General Management and Marketing)
Most companies are expecting the paul merage school of business to be the next big thing, but that is only speculation. The first graduating class for the Business Administration major is actually this year.

Don’t worry if your math is weak. You only take up to Calc 2, math is definitely my weakest subject and I’m doing fine :]

I also believe they’re adding a specialization in finance this upcoming fall?

Yes, they are switching from specializations to emphases…finance will be included with a variety of new fields.
