Just graduated high school, going to go to a state school next year and really want to transfer to UCLA because well it’s UCLA and it’s one of the rather few colleges that offers the degree I want. I plan on working hard in university next year. I don’t know what else to say. I was pretty lazy in high school and don’t have anything noteworthy to make me stand out. But I’m hoping that next year will be a fresh beginning and I’ll get a chance to redeem myself. What will they be expecting from me as a transfer student in order for me to get accepted? Oh yeah, and I’ll be transferring in from out of state.
ACT: 31
SAT: 2050
Race: Asian (if that’ll work against me)
i live in florida.
UCLA is a state school. They only accept Junior year transfers. What state are you in? To see what is expected go to the transfer page on their web site. You’ll need to see how many classes will transfer. Also you’ll need to see if your parents are willing to pay $50K+/year.
Go with the plan! Transfer!!
We can use your $100K in OOS tuition in the UC system, even if attending a large public in CA is no better than attending one in Florida. If I can just play a part in persuading 10 kids do this I will have raised $1million for the UC system. Please let me know I can count on you to help!
As @Erin’s Dad has indicated ^^^ UCLA is a publicly funded university. This means that California taxpayers fund the university, so students from California have first dibs.
As an OOS transfer, you would pay $55K per year. There is no financial aid for OOS and even less for transfers. Your stats would not be competitive for transfer students who apply.
@mikemac, LOL!
What are your parents saying about paying the high OOS costs for UCLA???
You can’t transfer as a frosh/soph, UCLA only takes junior transfers…and mostly ONLY from instate.
i don’t know what kind of aid CMU gives to transfers.
What school are you at now???
@“aunt bea”, without knowing his college grades, frankly, you have no clue how competitive his transfer app would be.
However, yes, UCLA is also a big state school.
@“aunt bea” thanks! I used to post suggesting that kids save their families the extra cost of a large public that happens to be in CA (and the cost falls on the family since there is no aid available for the OOS tuition surcharge) but then I realized I was fighting the tide. A million dollars is a lot of money, and with a little nudge I think I can raise it!
