How has CC helped you?

I'm relatively new here but have found this site to be great in the college process. I feel that seeing the smart people on this forum has motivated me to do better and not settle. Not only do the great people in this community answer quickly and informatively but that are a kind group of people that I enjoy 'talking' with. So I made this thread so people can thank others that have helped you or the community as a whole but please share details ;)

CC has helped me so much. I’ve found much more information on here than from people at my school. At my school the only thing the administration worries about is getting everyone to graduate on time or early. The way you get there doesn’t matter as long as you reach it.

At first I was also thinking of graduating early but then I found CC. I realized that I had so much potential and instead of rushing through school I wanted to spend my four years of high school doing good quality work. CC basically raised the bar for me compared to my school’s relatively low one.

I’ve been taking honors/ap classes, competing in academic competitions, participating in school activities, and volunteering my time for my community. I don’t plan on applying to an Ivy League school but when I receive my diploma at graduation I want to know that high school was worth it. That those four years did prepare me for something and that I worked hard for this.

Great…exactly the type of answers I was looking for.

Anyone else have soemthing that CC helped them with or is this just a new social media with no advice?

There are so many information that helped me. CC also gives me a platform to ask questions that I have.

Good Good for you…The last 2 posters are newer, are there any older members that have been helped?

Not so old, but I’m on here a lot. It’s a great place to talk to fellow peers who are interested in higher education, since the majority of my school is not planning on college or are clueless about the college process and will most likely just go to the local school. So this really helped me realize that there are people who want to go to college and are really bright. I’ve also received good advice from the parents and current college students about colleges, and I’m sure this website will be a great asset when I apply in a couple of years.

^ totally agree

Well… I learned a LOT about getting into college, of course. I got a lot of answers to my questions, even the stupid ones. I got 2 great essay readers. I got a lot of laughs and community.

CC has been absolutely amazing. I came into the transfer process knowing nothing. Now that the apps have been submitted, I feel like a guru. Definitely could not have done it without the UC transfer section. Lots of amazing people posting in there :)

Awesome! I’m feeling pressure as well and like to look here. One thing I would say negatively about this site as I should probably be doing HW or other things with my time :)

The kind people on CC have helped me so much. Mwallenmd, cecilturtle, neonzeus, charlieschm, golffather, slumom and so many more. I only wish I had found this community earlier in the college process. This is like an open university to find out about college! And it’s tuition free!

Yes putting the names of the people that have helped is a good idea

and many more

I’m a parent who received a lot of great info as my oldest son was looking for colleges. We started one of the threads on the Parents’ Forum called, “Parents of the Class of …” Some of us started a Facebook group to share more. Just this past week, one of the moms posted that her son was selling his car and wondered if any of us would like to buy it. It just so happens that we need one, so Saturday my husband looked at the car and bought it! It was a great price and I felt comfortable knowing we weren’t getting ripped off. It’s a wonderful car!

It made me aware that not all college kids are complete morons.

You look like the person this thread is meant to thank. Over 6,000 posts. Glad to see that even the advice givers receive in return.

This thread has gone silent. I’m sure more people find this site to be as helpful as I find it.
