How Important are prerequisite courses' GPAs for engineering?

Hi guys, I just want to ask how important are prerequisite courses’ GPAs for upper division admission to engineering program in a university?
I’m currently in a washington state cc, looking to transfer to UW seattle or one of the UCs for chemical engineering program.
And what do you think of this
My current GPA for my prereq courses:
3.4 Gen Chem I
3.5 Calc 1
I’m taking Calc II, eng physics, and gen chem II this quarter, and I think my average GPA of my prereq courses will be about the same. I know it’s bad. :(((((

Make an appointment with the Transfer Advisor at your CC. That person will be able to tell you if you are on the right track or not.

You can expect that they will be approximately as competitive as the direct admissions requirements.

Engineering is extremely competitive and demands a high GPA, and fulfillment of virtually all major pre-reqs.

In terms of the UCs, you can look at the UCLA profile of transfer students to get an idea. Obviously the UCs beneath UCLA would have lower admitted GPAs as you work your way down the tier system (with Berkeley’s being a bit higher).

UCLA’s admitted GPA in Chem Engineering for 2014 was 3.94.

For University of Washington, you can look here: http://data.engr.washington.edu/pls/portal30/STUDENT_APPL.RPT_APPLICANT_STATISTICS_YEAR.SHOW_PARMS

UCs won’t have financial aid coverage for the $23,000 non-resident additional tuition.

Within Washington, Washington State University also offers chemical engineering.
