I've heard a lot of discussion about how colleges don't "require" subject tests.
I'm applying as an engineering major, so, exactly HOW important are subject tests?
I've taken math 2 and physics so far(780 in both), how much will this help me in terms of going to an engineering school?

It will definitely strengthen your application. As for how much it will strengthen it… It depends on the school a lot. 780 is excellent.

Even the colleges that don’t require them will almost definitely look at them if you send it to them (Notre Dame, USC, NYU, etc). Some colleges that don’t require them strongly recommend them (Emory).

Also, a 780 looks great ESPECIALLY on physics which can be pretty tough. I’d send them to the more competitive colleges if I were you.

I would definitely pay the fee to send those scores to each college you are applying to – even if the college does not require them. Your scores are very high and they strengthen your application, especially to engineering programs.

Alright guys, thanks for your help

It depends on the school. Some schools do require them while many would recommend. If it is a competitive school that recommend it, treat it as required. Your scores are good that you should send them in anyway. What schools are your looking at? Certain schools like Purdue would not consider it for admission though.
