Hey, I've been checking week after week. There just isn't a plane ticket earlier than 11:40PM Arrival on August 17th. Coincidentally (and unfortunately), the tickets on the 16th are in the $1000s for economy seats.

So, Ive just ordered Aug 17. tickets for arrival at 11:40 PM. That means I'm gonna miss an entire day of orientation activities.

I know the first orientation day is getting registered and a big packet of info. Are they still passing them out on the 18th? Just how important is it to not miss the 17th?

I don't think you're missing much other than a few social events. It's really just the whole moving-in/registration thing but you can take care of that later. Just be sure to see your RA as soon as you get on campus.

ough...that really sucks man...but actually they are right my plane got delayed a few hours and i didnt get there until late...the first day is move-in and maybe a floor meeting...

i think the packet tells you what to do you for late registration...oh and are you living in a single? because at that late arrival hour you wont be able to do anything!!! since you are a freshman and dont have a cornell ID you may not even be able to get into your dorm building!!!

hopefully you have a roomate and he will be able to let you in the building as well as into your room!!! best of luck man :)

It really depends on the individual experience. I've seen many people turned away at the various checkpoints (car, dorm registration, etc.). This is the first time I have heard stories about people getting away with arriving early. On the other hand, they do let you arrive later than your scheduled time, I believe. If you are scheduled for a later time, I wouldn't go early - instead, I would use the earlier time to go to New Student Registration at Bartels to get your Student ID, etc.

I would NOT count on being allowed to move-in before you timeslot. If you get to Cornell early, you will be directed to park in "A-Lot" on North Campus. From there you can take a shuttle to Barton Hall, where the campus services event is being held and students can proceed to Bartels where they do registration. Then when it is time you can go back to your car and get in line for move-in. The shuttles will be free all day.

Aw ur gonna miss out! I wouldn't worry tho...there isn't much happening. Just really registration, floor meetings, ra meetings, and ol meetings. It's okay you'll get caught up.

There's really not that much that you do during orientation. You basically set up your schedule, and go to events relating to the book you read over the summer. There are scheduled activities during the night which are fun to go to. And you're meeting new people too.
