Hi, all
I am a coming sophomore in a SUNY and my cumulated GPA is only 3.72 now. I am thinking of transferring to Harvard, Columbia and NYU as a junior. I can make my GPA at most 3.8 something by the end of next semester. Do you guys think it is possible to transfer to Harvard, Columbia and NYU with such a low GPA? Thank you!!! (Im an economic and math major)

Speaking as a fellow 3.72er, you have a good gpa.
It may be easier to get into nyu vs. harvard, but why not try anyway?
Maintain or improve your gpa, get good recs, write a quality essay, and you should be in contention... just don't not try because you are afraid of a possible rejection, please. good luck! :)

3.7 is low?

The strength of your application depends on so many other factors -- rec letters, quality of essays, extracurriculars, etc. Do as well as you can academically but don't underestimate the importance of the other factors. good luck!

i agree with confetti tea. i had a 4.0 but i would imagine a lot of 4.0s apply. my friend with a 3.85 got into stanford and harvard for transfer. he was rejected from columbia though, but i think that shows how numbers are just a part of the overall application ... so many other things are important too.

adriana do you know you friends high school stats? SATS,g.p.a---

i had a 3.5 at tufts and i got into harvard.

Thank you so much for your posts~
speaking of EC, I don't have some "stellar" ECs such as the internship at whitehouse. i am just wondering what kind of EC do they think that can show your leadership etc.

nvs
1. 3.72 is not a GPA to call "only" 3.72.
2. Do not worry about "stellar" ECs and what kind of EC "they" want to see.
3. Present yourself as you truly are. Think of your application as presenting you on your best day.
4. College GPA is very important and yours is good.
