After getting accepted, how important is the cc gpa? Is it okay as long as I get the passing grades, or should I worry about maintaining my current GPA?
Still VERY important - Look at your conditions of acceptance. Depending on your current GPA, the letters may state your needing to maintain a 3.0 or even higher GPA.
This year is wonky - 10-20% more applicants. Keep yourself as competitive as possible.
You do not have to worry about maintaining like a 4.0 GPA, just keep your GPA above a 3.0 and make sure you do not get any grades lower than a “C”
Be VERY careful on this… some programs (majors) require that certain prereq classes have a B or better. Examples that I have heard of Pharmaceutical Science, Info and Comp Sci, Math, Econ.
I am taking a course that is a prereq for only one of the UCs I applied to and I am expecting a B from that class, which might bring down my GPA by a bit. My school also offers a P/NP grade option by May. I was wondering whether it is better to leave it as B (or try harder to get A) or just do P/NP so that I can focus on other more important prereqs and maintain my current GPA if I get accepted by a UC that doesn’t require the course. But I guess I won’t need to worry too much about my GPA for admission. Thanks for your replies!
As long as you get that B it should be fine… Read the fine print to make sure you can’t get a C, or worse.
