how important is spring grades for uc

i heard that the uc's admit u only temporarily in the middle of spring and then after u finish spring term, they make the final decision. is the same deal as high school where uc's will drop u if u fail classes in spring? or is it totally different?

my understanding--your acceptance is provisional---final transcripts will either support decision/offer--or be cause to rescind. My sense is you will not be "failing" any class-as you have the where-with-all to apply yourself to even be considered UC eligible. Hang in there-breathe-enjoy your senior year!

so ur saying is that uc's will consider spring grades as a means to admit me again (making it final)? it's not like high school where the school rejects u if u don't do well?

U'll get rejected if u do bad...don't do bad...it's really that simple...

Your admission offer will be canceled if your Spring Grades are full of C's and D's. What UCs don't want students to do is to feel all relieved after finding out he's been been accepted and becomes careless and start slacking off for the remaining semester and failing the tests, etc.

Also, for impacted majors like Business Economics, if you are taking one of the pre-reqs on Spring and your transcript shows that your grade is below B for that, you will be rejected on the spot.

Just treat your last semester of your current school as if you would treat any other semester - do your best, aim for all A's, take somewhat useful courses (meaning don't choose useless courses like "Wine and Food Pairing" just to get an easy A, unless you are really really really really really eager to know about the subject ;)), and ace your final. If you do that, there will be absolutely 0 chance that anything will go wrong (like getting admission offer canceled) and you will be happy.

ok before people start going wild, I'll be happy to point out my own mistake:

This is NOT true, I dunno what I'd been smoking (maybe the tiredness plays a factor), but getting a C won't get you an automatic rejection. I got mixed up between the qualification for my school's TAP program and the UCLA's admission policy. Forgive me. But it's not pretty to see a C on your transcript, so just keep away from getting below a B ;)

you mean how important ARE spring grades

ya they say as long as ur GPA doesnt drop significantly. but who is to say what is a significant drop? if you have a consistant 3.5 then it shouldnt be that hard to maintain at least a 3.2 in the spring, and i dont think that would be a problem. why would you let your grades drop from say a 3.8 to a 2.8? that would be a huge change.

I've known a handful of people who have had rescinded admittance letters due to their poor spring grades, from the high school and college level.

Admission to a UC campus is a conditional admission. If you fail to meet the conditions of admissions it is possible for the campus to rescind/revoke your admissions. You should receive these conditions sometime between receiving your admission notification through submitting your intent to register. For the Davis campus these are given to you during the intent to register process before you hit submit. I recommend you review these conditions to make sure you will meet them before you finalize your decision.

Are the conditions different for different students?

What are usually the conditions on grades?

thanks

I'm retaking a lot of classes that I failed in the Spring. This means that getting As in the classes that I previously received Ds or Fs in will significantly boost my GPA. Would the UCs take that into consideration??? I know that the latest UC notification for admission comes in May 1, but my Spring semester doesn't even end until June...

h2ll0o0o0: you're pretty much screwed.

if anyone can qualify that please do

h3ll0o0o0, getting D's and F's will probably keep you out of most of the UC's because they won't see your new spring grades at all before they decide. (Except maybe UCSC or UCM depending on your stats)

However, you can apply for winter or spring quarter and they will see your new and improved grades.

What's your stats?

Good Luck! :)

is this how we treat new members?

the uc's will consider the difficulty of my classes before they try to drop me because of poor grades, right? i mean i'm going to take 6 classes (with all of them being somewhat tough like logic) 3 of which is honors. also, i am skipping a foreign language to the next level.
fall semestre i took only 4,2 of which are honors and got all A's. will they expect me to get all A's for my ridiculously difficult spring semestre? i mean i can get a couple B's and they won't be too much troubled by that right?

They’re not robots who only look at GPA. They will be able to see everything and take into account. Don’t worry you will be fine.
