How important is taking three SAT 2s

Would it hurt me to only take two SAT II subject tests? It says 3 is reccomended, but not required? Has anyone in here been accepted with taking 0,1, or even 2 tests?

thanks

I know people who got in who took less than three - one of them took only one. So I guess it can't matter too much. I applied with only two SAT II's.

not too important for admissions, although they can be, but I think they are used for placement in classes.

I sent in 0, and I got in. I applied ED though, so I think the admissions officers might have given me some leeway.

I didn't know they were used for placements, but I think AP exams will take care of that.

I think 2 is fine with the new SAT...I'm a freshman at NU this year, so I obviously took the old SAT, and therefore my 3 SAT IIs were Writing, Literature, and Math1C...but the new test combines old SAT and the Writing test, so two should be fine. :)

...But also, you can take 3 in one sitting, so it might just be worth it to take 3 anyway. But hey, what do I know?

Well, I only sent my ACT score, so they're going to have to deal with the lack of SATII's :)

Same here.

I sent my ACT plus SAT2s.

I just sent in a sexy picture of myself...

is that a joke Esquared...or do you actually send in a picture of yourself?

Let's say it's a joke.

i dunno.. but i took three. isn't it safe to take all three if it's "recommended"?

I think what it means is that if you have 2 quality SAT II's, like 750+ in a science or a history or a math, then its fine, but if you have 650-700, then 3 is probably better.

i applied ED, so it may not have been as critical, but i didn't even take any SAT IIs or ACTs plus, my school only offers 3 APs, so it's not like i'm making it up there either. oh well, i got into medill anyway, so it couldn't have been that important.
