For transfer on the Common App your main essay is why you want to transfer. That seems like an easy and convincing essay to write if I actually went to a University but I go to a community college. The reason I am transferring is because community colleges don't give out bachelors degrees...how am I supposed to write an entire essay on that?

Maybe put some of your goals you want to find in the college you eventually chose to go to.

That’s your reason right there. You aspire to further your education, and doing that is going to involve going to a university. Talk about how your experiences at community college have motivated you even more to further your education by taking it to the next level. Talk about your future goals and how an education at a university is going to help you to make those a reality.

Just talk about your passion and career goals and if the supplement isn’t very specific, you may elect to make your main common app essay a “Why X University” essay and tailor it to each specific university (you may edit your essay up to 3 times I believe).

Question: is the common app essay the same as the personal statement, or do you also have to have a separate personal statement essay?

If you need to have both can you use the same essay for the personal statements and the common app essay?

Bump for my above question

^Is there a reason why you can’t view the CA?
