I didn't do too well because, frankly, I rushed them and was unaware of them being necessary. I've applied to some ivy league schools, are SAT IIs very important? Are they simply a formality that can help, but not hurt like AP scores?

They are more important than AP tests, but they aren't that important...I didn't study at all and I didn't do incredibly. I'm going to Brown, though. Don't worry, other factors can balance them out (more than the SAT can be).

I wouldn't worry, many places use them mostly for placement purposes. SAT IIs aren't nearly as important as most other things, though you can bet most of the people on this board go hysterical over them, as they do for just about everything else related to SATs.

There are certain colleges which weigh the SAT IIs very heavily, though. This is especially so with the UCs, who double SAT II scores when they calculate your "cumulative" SAT score.

wrong. sat 2s are more important than SAT 1.. and APs are not less important, the main reason why AP is placed at a less significant level at some schools is that not everyone took AP. otherwise AP is more important than SAT 2s.

ohnoes- don't you mean if you TAKE the ACT? ie. SAT IIs are not required if you take ACT instead of SAT. (since science is included in ACT and it is more curriculum based)
