How is a 36 Tabulated?

So I got a 34 on the ACT last december and am shooting for a 36 on Saturday. I'm prepping with ACT 36: Aiming for the Perfect Score, and am curious about one matter regarding the test scores. This book says that the only way to get a 36 is to not miss any questions on the math, english and science section, miss less than 2 on the reading and get a 12 on the writing section... however, this doesn't seem right to me. Does this mean that the only way to get a 36 is in these areas? If so, how many 36's in subjects do I need to balance a 35 or a 34 in any of the other sections.

Thank you

No offense, but you’re aiming for a 36 and can’t calculate simple averages?

Lol that’s what I thought, but the book I’m using states that ACT uses different values for the 4 tests, not just a simple average. If this isn’t true then that makes it a whole lot easier…

What book are you using? It’s the average of all 4 scores. You can miss like 3-4 questions for a 36.

Your four scores just need to add up to 142+ (36, 36, 35, 35 or 36, 36, 36, 34)

Gotcha. Thanks for the help guy!
