I recently got accepted to Texas Tech University as an engineering major, and I was wondering which residential hall to choose, Belsdoe or Sneed? I need something where there is the least partying possible and I can also find some student as the same major as mine. Are Belsdoe and Sneed good? I found mixed reviews about both and I would appreciate any insight. Thanks
Hi I am an international student and have been accepted to TTU as well in the foundational engineering program- I assume you have been admitted in this program as well? I also have the same requirements- Least partying more focus on studies. I chose Sneed Hall because of the learning communities there and also because its closest to the Engineering building. Also I wanted a double occupancy room and all of them were filled in Bledsoe Hall so I chose Sneed. What is your desired major after you finish the foundational engineering program? I am thinking either ChemE or MechE!
@mushi123 great to hear from you. I’m admitted as a pre-engineeriny major, so I can also take my time to decide what kind of engineering I really want to do but most likely I’ll be doing mechanical engineering. From what I have heard from other blogs, belsdoe is the best choice for engineering and sneed is the second best. Belsdoe is all engineering and sneed is 90% engineering. The only reason I wanted to confirm is because I have heard some bad reviews about it too. Are you incoming as a freshman? I’m really excited to go to Texas Tech next year as a freshman.
I am an incoming freshman as well! And yeah Bledsoe is all engineering but when I was booking a room, all the double occupancy rooms were filled in Bledsoe and only triple occupancies were left which I didn’t fancy. Maybe I will transfer to Bledsoe if I can if there are any vacancies in the double occupancies. Are you admitted into the Honors College?
@mushi123
Yeah it’s better to be in sneed double occupancy then belsdoe triple occupancy, triple occupancy gets a real pain in the ass since the rooms are the same size as double occupancy.
No I’m not in honors college, does that help in any way?
Both of you guys, I live in Lubbock and want to follow you guys and see what ya’ll thing of the engineering at Tech.
My 7th grade daughter may be a engineer too. I hope you guys do great!
@VANURSEPRAC
I’ll definitely follow up with you on how’s Tech’s engineering school. But since you live in Lubbock, you might be able to answer some of my questions about lubbock.
Is it a racist city for immigrants? I have heard mixed answers and would like to know from someone who actually lives there.
Is it safe, how is the crime? I have been living in houston for 4 years, and I think it’s a decent city.
Thanks.
