Be prepared to choose an HHS elective (actually have several choices for flexibility of schedule). Approved ones are on the SEAS website. Half the class will take STS first semester and an HHS elective the second, half the class will take STS second semester and an HHS first semester. It depends in your registration time during the day. It makes no difference which way you do it.

OMG! An E-Schooler! You guys are sickos. AHAHA.

I always make fun of my E-School friends, but then they always get me back by replying, “At least I’ll have a job when I graduate.” Then, I hang my head in shame.

The first year SEAS schedule doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room. Variations really depend on a couple of things.
What Calc you are starting in based on what you took in hs.
If you have to take Chem based on hs credit.
What semester you are taking STS/HHS

Fifteen credits is the minimum in SEAS so you’re right on target. What you have posted is a really standard schedule. They will really walk you through it at orientation. I only mentioned the HHS elective as you may want a little more time to think about it. My son picked one on the fly when he was told STS was filled at his registration time. It was no big deal and he liked the class fine, but he’s flexible. Some people like to plan.

bigwill - I all depends on your perspective. My son has utmost respect for his friends in CLAS with all the reading and long papers they have to write. I’m not kidding. He wouldn’t do it for anything.

Funny, my friends in the E-School tell me that also. lol. It’s really interesting how some students would prefer to read and write long papers, while some would prefer to do problem sets.

I have a bunch of E school friends and from what they’ve said, ENGR1620 and CHEM1611 (lab) are pretty easy As. Math will be hard, but it’s good that you don’t have to take calc 2 at UVA. Chem is chem, and most e schoolers hate STS.

Thanks for all your help guys! I got a 5 on BC Calculus and a 5 on AP Chemistry, but I didn’t want to skip too many classes, so I’m going to retake CHEM151 and skip APMA111

If you’re thinking of Mech-e you are not going to be taking a higher level Chem class. I would really consider taking the credit for Chem. it’s a pain in the rear. You have to take the lab at UVa, or you can turn in your lab notebook for evaluation. If it passes you get exemption, not credit. In place of Chem you can move up Comp Sci that’s normally taken second semester. Now if you were talking Physics, I’d totally agree, take it again as few high schools cover what’s covered in college and you’ll be lost in Physics 2.

Good advice from blueiguana on the Chem. Don’t take it if you don’t need it. I understand that it can also be difficult to schedule the CS course in the spring so if you can take it in the fall, I would do so.

You can schedule a lab without taking the corresponding lecture course. Your advisor will work with you during the scheduling process, but try and identify the Chem1611 sections that will work with your schedule. It sounds like you’ll need to take it and that (1) lab credit will bring you up to a full course load.

Since you got a 5 on BC, 2120 should be cake for you (it is much easier than 1110). I don’t know how you are with programming, but from what I’ve seen and heard, cs 1110 can be a little on the time consuming/challenging side (I got ap credit so I went straight to 2110). Overall I’d say that’s a pretty good schedule, and maybe you could try to sneak in an easy hss class in there too.

Does anyone know if I can switch between my first and second semester classes while being in the e-school? I’d rather take chem in my second semester

Skip Chem lecture and take CS 1110. CS 1110 is the best intro class ever, super chill.

For APMA 2120 aim for either Mary Beck’s section (MoWeFr 9:00AM - 9:50AM Tu 8:30AM - 9:20AM) or one of Manouchehr Mohajeri’s (MoWeFr 11:00AM - 11:50AM Th 8:30AM - 9:20AM or MoWeFr 10:00AM - 10:50AM Th 8:30AM - 9:20AM).
