How is the UCI Waitlist looking this year?

@mainecoons14 oh wow is that true? That’s great! I would love to have a med school that I have a good chance of getting accepted to!
I’ll apply to UCR med school in the future and honestly any med school is great, but I also want to see if I can get into any more prestigious ones
thanks for the info!

@waitlisted1234 Hahaha no extracurriculars! But prob a stellar essay :stuck_out_tongue: I’m pretty sure you folks have better stats. In other words, ya’ll will kickass wherever you go!

@norcal245 ohh plus probably a little luck
I’m so happy for your friend
Thanks! Im sure you’ll do amazing wherever you go as well!!

It just doesn’t make sense. There are people who would go to more prestigious schools and leave there UCI spots. In addition, there are so many people who turned down uci’s offer to go to more prestigious schools. I don’t understand why there aren’t any spots open.

@ethanchanner I completely agree. UCI is notoriously slow, but how could there be no open spots? And honestly I feel like its the same 10 people posting on this page like a lot of people don’t seem interested how could it be?

If there are no waitlist admissions, I’m going to call UCI and wonder why there aren’t any. UCLA and CAL accepted people from the waitlist… I don’t understand

@ethanchanner Yeah, I think its completely illogical if a lot of people don’t get in from the wait list. But at the same time typically people know by know if they get off. Im scared, and hopeful, but at the same time I submitted my housing for UCR today so idk

@mainecoons14 how much did it cost to submit housing
How much does it cost to cancel it:0

@waitlisted1234 250$, nothing to cancel. Honestly I would do your housing rn its a long form, and I feel like its gonna end up crashing tomorrow or Sunday cause those are the last days.

@mainecoons14 true ://…
The struggle

Sigh. If UCI were to let us know now, we wouldn’t have to deal with all this stress…

@ethanchanner right? LOOL
This is poo

Yeah…I’m worried too. It’s the first time they’ve been so late in releasing decisions. I’m going to send in my appeal letter at this point just in case. I don’t really want to go to UCSD compared to UCI.

@Alfendi I think it’s too late to send an appeal letter
Deadline was april 15
And dude!! Ucsd is amazing!!

Honestly, I think as of rn their freshman class is probably full, and they’re just seeing how many people will leave to see if they can accept anyone rn. Because I don’t know how they wouldn’t know what their SIR number is… you know?

@mainecoons14 the lady I called said she thinks it probably wouldn’t change that much but she could’ve just said that cus she was annoyed with me
like on the uci fb page there’s like
“I need to look for a new roommate because she got accepted off the waitlist”
And in the comments it’s like
“This happened to me too! Twice”
“Me too! Let’s be friends”
Like hahah seriously

Okay let’s say ummmm for ucd there was 9000 offers
Usually about half opt in so 4500
Even if 100-200 people get accepted
There’s also UCLA ucsd and ucb
I think total there should be at least 500 that get in out of all 4 schools
Idk how many were accepted but a 100-200/4500 acceptance rate seems reasonable
Maybe it’s more maybe it’s less but I’ve heard a lot of people getting off the ucd waitlist especially
With those 500 students, about half will opt in to probably ucd and ucsd
Im guess about 3/4 will opt in to UCLA and ucb
That’s at least 300 students
Uci usually accepts twice the amount i they have available in past years because only about 50% SIR off the waitlist
Like I don’t think the room is an issue haha
Granted, these 300 students might not have SIR’d to UCI originally but I think a large amount did so I still think UCI could accept a few hundred honestly

@waitlisted1234 wait so people from UCI HAVE gotten off the waitlist?

@peacelove5432 no one from UCI has gotten in yet. I’m just saying hypothetically, with all the waitlist acceptances from other schools, UCI should be able to accept people off the waitlist.

And honestly, I feel like there are more people who got accepted from other schools. Like literally everyone who was waitlisted to UCLA, UCSD, UCD and UC berkeley got in at my school except for one person who hasn’t heard yet
