Thanks a lot guys!

it offers great research options, and it is in a major city.
School spirit is high. It is definitely among the top 10 public universities in the US. Pretty solid departments across the board. Cheap if you are in state. Still not that bad if you are out of state. Good sports.

Overall I would say many schools are better overall academically and in other factors too, but it is still a great school nonetheless and is respected all across the US.

Seattle is very pretty and fairly walkable.

UDub is only 15-20 min bus ride from downtown. Gives you the best of both worlds...a college town atmosphere and easy access to the city, parks and beaches.

p.s the bus system is great.

UDub by the numbers... UW By The Numbers — University of Washington

Never figure out this one though:
- Seattleites buy more sunglasses per capita than any other city in the nation. Wonder why?

In part because Seattle has the highest per capita of boat ownership than any other city in the nation.
Or maybe because there is such a long wait for the sun to return that nobody can recall where they put their last pair...

hahahaha... that explains the mystery. We were fooled when we did the school visit in July... bright sunshine not a cloud in the sky and the campus was gorgeous... but when S arrived in late September...

thanks all good stuff!

anymore?

bump (i'm in state btw)

It helps if you would tell us a bit about your academic interests.

business :)

GoBlue: It seems to be because major sunbreaks are relatively far apart, and so people tend to lose their sunglasses in between, so rush to buy new ones as soon as the sun comes out. (at least that's how it was explained to me).

It also has the #1 primary care med school and nursing school in the nation.

it may appear rainy much of the time but, during the summer Seattle is very nice and sunny. We are a hidden treasure
