How is unit 1? because I picked it

Yeah I chose unit 1 and I’m an engineering major. I did not want foothill even though it is considered the engineering building cuz it sounds lame from what everyone said. But anyhow I want to know how is unit one.

foothill isnt lame...............what kinda feedback have you been getting? unit 1 is the closest to campus, just hope you dont get a triple, or are stuck in one of the 4 buildings, i didnt like unit 1 too much.......but then again, the space in each room in clark kerr has spoiled me.......

where is Clark Kerr exactly?

I wanna pick Unit 1 or 2. Closest and most sociable = instant win.

Can someone give a quick rundown of advs/disadvs of the different dorms?

How about Bowles?

clark kerr is so good that its just off the maps....=P

LoL. When I first came here I was like OMFG Clark Kerr is not even on the map. It's not THAT far away. From Unit 2, you just walk 1 more block uphill and you're at CKC. Unit 3 is pretty good too if you want the units.

Clark Kerr = HUGE. 12x18 rooms? LoL VERY NICE. How about the big 18x18 rooms? Muhahahahahha. Oh and the one with teh walkin closet and the bathroom? =) I have a triple there and I'm glad I got a triple there and not a triple in Unit 1. You can actually put down all 3 beds if you wanted to here.

Unit 1/3 - Closest to campus. Only 1 block away. Unit 3 might be the closest if you use Sproul Plaza as your midpoint. Bus stop right outside Unit 3 so I would say its most convenient. Unit 3 is the loudest place.

Unit 2 is behind Unit 1 separated by a parking lot. You have to walk another 5 min if you live there.

Clark Kerr - FAR, but not THAT far. I live there. A lot of athletes live here, but its not just all athletes. We have a football player upstairs, but other than that they aren't all here. A lot of them live in other buildings. rooms are LARGE.

Foothill - mostly engineers cuz its across st from engineering building. pretty quiet here. a lot of ppl lock up in their rooms to study and don't come out. it's not all silent, but just not as much socializing.

Bowles/Stern - All guys/girls respectively. I don't know much. Bowles looks nice like Harry Potter, but is JUNK inside. That's all.

dude qwerasdf, what building do you live in??

with clark kerr, sometimes, they have some special nights, such as the western regional college food cookoff competetion/convention, where a ton of food critics come to rate the food. so imagine las vegas style buffet............but hilton quality food. cheesecake was definitly orgasmic........it was sooo good it hurt my mouth =(

o wait, this thread is about housing............hmmm......alright clark kerr, yeah the part of the room i have to myself, as in my own private area, is almost the size of a unit room..........and i have the smallest third of my room too............

but is it possible to get in as frosh? I mean, how difficult is it, dmcwhiz, to get into the dorm of your choice?

Clark Kerr sounds perfect. I like the name too. Almost sounds like Superman's alter ego. But you would choose Units 1/2 over it?

Units

3 rooms in a suite
Double mini-suite
double room

Of the three mentioned, are they roomy? Do I get a shared bathroom?

Clark Kerr

triple in a suite
double room

Of the two mentioned, are they roomy? Do I get a shared bathroom?

I heard that there are new dorms for Unit 1 being completed in time for fall 2005. I also heard there are new unit 2 dorms also. Are these regular residence halls or apartments? Anyone have any information on it?

New unit 2 building has apartments but it's not open to lowerclassmen.

is everything else, darkpyr0?

So what exactly are the differences between the units?

Just asking because even though I am EECS major, foothills seems too liberal and nerdy. Clark Kerr seems too far....

I want to live in the Castle I saw on the north side.

Err, there are two dorm halls on the northeast side of campus, Bowles and Foothill.

Bowles may be the castle you're talking about; it is an all-male dorm.

wait just to make sure, i'm sure this has been clarified before, but again, it is NOT first come first serve, right? cuz i haven't applied for housing yet, just because i'm waiting a few things out. i'm pretty sure i want Unit 1. now, i am at NO disadvantage by waiting to apply, correct?

Mandragora: The castle is Bowles. Its all guys. It sucks inside. It's ANCIENT. Trust me. It looks nice, but inside is TINY and horrendous.

Kratos: Its lottery. You apply anytime. It's all random. I applied 6 min before it was due in Freshman yr and this yr I applied like last day too and still got an offer.

wasai-mike: first yr you will be taking chem 1a, math 1a/1b/53? I dunno which ur in, physics 7b? Foothill will be closest, but I live in clark kerr. i take those classes and i dun mind walking ... its ok.

darkpyr0: you can get Unit 2 Wada apartments as sophomores, but your chances are very low. if you have jr standing as a sophomore (we're talking NON AP... jr standing through college credit), then you can have a decent chance. Wada is not worth it. $536 for a tiny triple like that? I'm living in apartments for $562 and its a double 2 bedroom + half room for office. beats the crap out of any uc apartment.
