How late is too late to request information and schedule a tour/interview?

I really want to look at St. Paul's and Taft, and possibly apply there, but I think it might be too late. Do you think November is too late to schedule a tour and interview at those schools?

I happened to get an email from St. Paul’s earlier today saying that they have just added 20 additional interview slots for Nov. 15th.

When is too late? I suspect early to mid January is too late for the regular decision cycle. Most schools want campus tours and interviews to be completed by 15 - 30 days after the application deadline. Many, especially those with an oldest child west of the Mississippi river, may not even be considering boarding schools and may not make first contact for another month. You are not late. :)

And SPS does Skype or telephone interviews (not sure about Taft), if you get too crunched. 20 new slots on November 15, and late afternoons added on Mondays and Thursdays (SPS)!

Here is part of that SPS email from today:

And remember, you don’t need to have completed the application in order to have your interview!<<

Thanks so much soxmom and itsjustschool!

We toured and interviewed at both Cate and Thacher last year in January. It wasn’t too late at all, and in a way it was more relaxed because the applications were already in.

We interviewed all 7 schools mid January last year. She was accepted at 4 so it’s definitely not too late

We called just last week and were able to get a slot from a cancellation in December, so, go for it. Her application will be in by then, so it works out well. Good luck.

Thats great to know mexusa! I think I will have to cancel an interview in December also, so I can retake the SSAT.

Many schools have you interview before you complete your application (learned that a few years ago when DS! was applying). Still time left for this year’s applications.
