How likely are classes to accept waitlisted students?

So for History 142B, I'm waitlisted at #23/40 right now. The class has a max capacity of 220. I've been in 2 classes where students on the waitlist were taken in and not. In Phy Sci 5, there was a ton of people on the waitlist and Prof. Roberts just took everyone. In History 97C, the class capacity was 20 people, so those on the waitlist would not get in unless someone dropped out.

Think I have a good shot or should I just pass and look elsewhere? =\ I figured for "big classes" like this one, most people on the waitlist would get in?

It is completely arbitrary from what I’ve seen. Get in contact with the professor and/or department if you want the details.

Like what Nit said. Talk to the prof after class, email them…whatever. Most of the time they won’t respond or they’ll tell you to wait.

Just hope they’ll take everyone in and get a few more TAs.

Don’t worry. I’ve taken 2 classes with Corey before, she accepts all people in the waitlist, and even if you arent on the waitlist she will give you a PTE number. So you’re fine. And she is easy!! Good luck…and take her 140A over the summer if you want its prob the easiest history class Ive taken
