Hello all.My mother and I had made a huge mistake on my FAFSA back in January... we had included the income I was receiving due to the death of my father. I called the FAFSA representatives today, and they confirmed what I have been hearing these past few days...you do not include that information on your FAFSA...(The only fin. aid I was eligble to receive with the incorrect EFC were loans & not that much of them anyway...)Soooo...we went on the FAFSA to make corrections today and now we have an EFC of 0000*.I noticed it has the asterisk after it and after much research, I've learned that means I have been selected for verification. It is accurate though, so I'm not too worried. But what concerns me is the time...school is almost here (Aug. 31) and the bill is due (Aug.24) will my FAFSA be verified? my fin. award packet changed/updated? and my funds received by the bill due date? (KEEP IN MIND I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED LOANS FROM THE SCHOOL THAT WERE GIVEN BASED ON THE INTIAL FAFSA EFC)
-Thanks in advance

Although the * means you have automatically been selected for verification it does not necessarily mean the school will verify you. Each school has to verify 30% of their students. Some will stop when they get to 30%. Some will do everyone that is selected. Other schools verify 100%. The advice given is not to submit verification unless the school requests it. As it is getting close to deadlines I would suggest contacting the school and asking.

We have been verified several times - the verification process has been very speedy.

You should call your Fin Aid office today and let them know the situation. Yes, your FA package will change to include the Pell grant if your EFC is 0. If this school is in state for you, did you follow through with updating your state aid application or is it too late?
