I figure there's some delay between 5pm and when the emails arrive because servers are overwhelmed etc... Can anyone who's experienced it chime in?

just a couple days :)

Don’t be surprised if CC has problems too. It has in the past, and I know they try to plan for it, but the simultaneous mass hysteria (good or bad) doesn’t usually help.

Some say acceptances go first, but I’m not sure if this is true or not. If you check back in the decisions threads (the one’s where CC didn’t crash), people received them as late as a few hours after 5pm.

Who knows, maybe the whole server will go on strike and emails won’t be sent until after we receive letters or not.

CC is frankly a very under-powered website. It’s sluggish not matter what, so imagine what it’ll be like when all the Ivy’s release decisions. You should plan on it being slow, and likely crash.

To tell you the truth, since there are about 35000 applicants I think the emails are going to roll out in increments of 2000 per 10 seconds to reduce server load. Therefore, the latest you will probably get your email is 5:03.

Or who knows, they might just do everything at once.

Chill out, 5 mins won’t kill anybody. After all, ~95% of us are going to be disappointed anyway

I’m sure we can all kill time checking other decisions. After all, other than maybe a Yale SCEAer/Stanford REAer, most of us applied to multiple Ivies.

I believe admission emails are sent out in at least two waves, but the first wave should arrive in mailboxes at precisely 5:01pm, based on past experience.

Also, it depends on your email provider. Certain ones have been reported to experience a delay in receiving the decision emails in the past. Good luck!

Thanks! I’m in the SCEAer/REAer category so I’m trying not to be stuck refreshing the page over and over.

Last year, it was 5:01 PM for me on Gmail. I think hotmail users received their decisions much later in the day.

good luck everyone!
