how many academic awards/honors do you have?

heyyyyyy this year we can put "Time Person of The Year".. because everyone was this year. "YOU" was the TPY

good one :)

Lol, piccolo, those teen tournaments are so easy ;-) Even for someone who knows no history like me. I wonder if they just randomly pick among those who pass the online test...

hopefully physics olympiad semi finalist this year (even though I only got 22 out of 38 right, and only 1 free response right...)

How'd you find out so early? Did they send the answers to your teacher or something?

I think so too...I took the online test every year (and usually got no more htan 3 or 4 wrong) and never got any luck.

fizix...read what I said. "Hopefully" doesn't mean anything besides an expression of my emotions. Yeah I want to know though, how did you do on that test? Even though it was mechanics I thought the free response was ridiculous. Also,w hat did you put for that one with the block fixed on a frictionless (but with mass) pulley? I couldnt get the acceleration because they never gave an R to find the rotational intertia of the pulley! (if there was another way to do it then it was probably too time consuming and thus I believe this test had a low floor score or rather hope so lol)

I'm still a sophomore and all our school does is have an event at the end of the year. I didn't do well at all last year so I didn't pick up much;

top honors in:
english 9 hon
computer apps (lol, what a joke)
computer keyboarding (^)
mechanical drawing (^)

I'll get alot more this year though, probably top 10, well hopefully.

I completely forgot how most of the problems on the test looked like...was it on MC or free-response?

I probably did kinda badly. But then again, I thought I bombed last year also and I ended up qualifying, so I'm still hoping. :)

People have put "Time person of the Year" on their apps so I don't think including "Accounting Jeopardy" would be the worst thing in the world.

..but I think that including TIME is probably more tongue-in-cheek..lol

"but I think that including TIME is probably more tongue-in-cheek..lol"

Maybe through the first few apps. When adcoms see that lots of people are doing it, the joke will get old really fast.

eh. my school awards pretty much anything...

at the end of freshman year I had:
-math achievement award--top 10% of math course
-social studies acheivement award--top10% of s.s. course
-english achievemnt award--top 10% of english coures
-academic banquet--top 10% overall ranking
-high honors roll each semester

at the end of sophmore year I will have had:
-math, science, social studies, and english achievement awards
-academic banquet
-mu alpha theta math honor society
-foriegn language, english, science, and social studies honor societies
-high honors roll each semester (unless something goes terribly wrong this semester)

-1st place regions in the mu-alph-theta sponsered log contest
-1st place in a regional essay contest for the NY Civil Liberties Union
-2 times 1st place winner at regional National History Day contest

Um... I was the student awarded 'Outstanding Achievement' awards in Biology, Chemistry, and English... yay....

First place in the school science fair freshman year... ha.
Published in school literary magazine.
High honor roll...

I'm so special =) Heh.

Would "Jeopardy! Teen Tournament 1st runner-up" also be a lock for the Ivies? ;-)

Before I actually participated in the Teen Tournament, the questions seemed way too easy for a decent quiz-bowler. But when you take into account pressure, nerves, and--most of all--buzzer timing, the game becomes much more challenging. In fact, I had to make ridiculous wagers on Daily Doubles in order to compensate for my mediocre reflexes.

Competing on Jeopardy! was literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience (according to the contract...sigh) that was so worthwhile--if not for the money, then for the friendships with fellow contestants.
