BTW, I do not play piano or violin. <----- My hook!!!!!!

Korean/Chinese male. My dad has an MBA, even though he is an immigrant. Highest income bracket. (Is this even a disadvantage? It doesn’t make sense that it would be.)

Planning to major in Economics. (Overpopulated major? I don’t know.) I’m from California.

I am a white, middle class girl who has never had to overcome any ‘personal tragedies,’ or done anything you would not expect from a teenager. The parents went to a university and a trade school. I’m just sort of hoping colleges need more ladies in their engineering programs. If not, I’m basically out of luck.~

If you are an Asian female from suburban New Jersey, are not low-income but not wealthy either (i.e., need financial aid), are good at math/science (potential pre-med track), don’t have any standout accomplishments (academic or otherwise), are not first-gen, and are good at the piano… good luck - you are basically the totally anti-hooked applicant.

indian girl from suburban nj woooo (twist: who is bad at math and science!)
parents have masters degrees/high income… guess i should start buying state school apparel now :P

[li] Chinese female (this practically SCREAMS “ORM” to all top colleges)
[/li]

[li] Primary interests are in the languages and humanities; fluent in English, Chinese, French, and Spanish (certified with high level, internationally recognized proficiency tests), tutor students at school for free in all levels of French, Chinese, and Spanish courses, currently picking up German. Don’t know if this would count as a hook. It probably won’t; it’s just one of my more significant EC’s
[/li]

[li] Low income (family annual income under $60,000)
[/li]

[li] NOT first generation
[/li]

If low income counts as a “hook”, then I only have one.

EDIT: Ooh! Another REALLY important anti-hook: NON-U.S. CITIZEN. I hold a Canadian passport, and have applied for Permanent Residency status, but the processing often takes years. It most likely won’t make it in time for my college apps.

lol, my best friend at college matches every single point you just listed (he’s asian if you were wondering), and plays both the piano and violin
