How many hours of sleep do you need to function at school?

does anyone ever get tired from sleeping too much? if i get between 11 and 23 hours of sleep im more tired than if i get 2.

^Yeppp. I’m actually really wide awake when I only get like 2 because I guess I havent really fell asleep yet or something?
But I feel realllyyy slow and tired if I get 10+ hours of sleep…

i went to sleep at 5 in the morning and crashed the entire 4th period and the few minutes in class in the morning… i did really good that day on being quiet in class

I don’t need any sleep to function.

But I do need about 7-8 hours of sleep to function well.

Does anyone notice that if you get the normal amount of sleep, say 7-8 hours, you feel fine, and if you pull an all nighter, say less than 2 hours you also feel wide awake, but if you get any amount in between you’re groggy and can’t focus?

That’s how it works for me. So if I’m up past 11 or 12 doing homework I might as well stay up all night.

I’ve noticed that I’m just as tired if I get nine hours of sleep as I am when I get six hours of sleep. So I don’t worry about it. Usually, I get somewhere between six and seven hours each night, and I never fall asleep in class.

I also hate that on days where I’m really tired I have so much trouble staying awake in class, but then I get home and go to take a nap and suddenly I’m wide awake :/

i sleep minimum 2am on weekdays… crazy i know :frowning:
but when i get to school it’s fine…
when i get home afterschool, i give myself a ‘nap’ and it’s all good :D

about 8. and i will always choose sleep over hw.

4-6 hours is good enough for me

I’ve pulled many all nighters and function reasonably well on no sleep - I just crash as soon as I get home. 5-6 and Im okay, 7-8 and Im good.

Wow. how many people here have pulled an all nighter just for hw??

I’ve never pulled an all nighter for hw…
I just stay up around midnight or 1am most nights.
And then take a looong nap friday when I get home. And then go out at night when I’m all wide awake :)

^several times. This year is the first year I’ve had to do it

To function well without being extremely tired, I usually need about 5 hours of sleep. I usually nap for a little bit when I get home too. Never pulled an all-nighter though, and I don’t plan on attempting one in the near future.

6.5 hours for me

But I could do so much better if I slept longer
