how many natl ap scholars a year?

seriously, mine offers 3, if I wanted any chance whatsoever I would need to take 5 self study, it puts me at such a disadvantage it is ridiculous

have you asked your counselors about the school supporting you to take an online course? (e.g. through Apex).
My school used to do that but dropped the monetary support b/c of budget issues... I think it's like $300 / semester.

self studied 5 of my ap's the week before the exam

"self studied 5 of my ap's the week before the exam"

...holy crap

do you mean to say you started to self study only for a week?!?!? (--not possible w/o some kind of prior learning or intense interest in those subjects)
I mean, APs are not at all memorization. In order to do well, you need solid concepts as well as some sort of practice.

no, in my experience the ap's(at least the fluffy humanities ones) are all about timing and learning the vocabulary and bsing well(and writing well, using a lot of noncommital statements). I took Human Georgraphy and got a 5 on it. I still dont know what it is? Some stuff about lingua franca. All of the other AP's I managed to do from my general knowledge + cobbling together stuff from other Ap courses. For example AP Environmental Science was all just some chem and bio( I took both ap classes) and I got a 5 on the world history by using my AP Euro knowledge + my studying from two years ago when I took the SAT II. Psych(3) was the funniest exam. When I saw the essay section, I started laughing because I had NO idea what it was about. But, I did see some stuff about psychoanalysis so I wrote about Freud.

Very nice!

I'm taking 5 classes at my school (all it offers) plus I'm self-studying Physics B, Calc BC, Chemistry and possibly Computer Science, I haven't yet decided.

I got the award this year (senior). I got 7 5's and 2 4's and I'm taking 6 more exams in may

To update this thread:

Compared to the 86 students who earned the National AP Scholar award as juniors in 2003, the number on 2004 jumped to a whopping 338 because of the new way of counting AP tests.

national ap scholar award is a scam. all you have to do is take 4+ AP tests and you'll practically get it with an average of 4 overall. any idea how easy that is? considering everyone on CC practically gets 5's on every test, an average of 4 is easy. even with 1-2 3's, if you have mainly 4's and 5's you'll still get it. the trick is to take that many AP tests your junior year if you really want it on your resume, heh.
