How many of you believe in God?

APDoolittle:

Great posts. Your posts demonstrate the mistaken views that Jusitinian I has towards the Catholic Church. It seems as if he studies Catholic doctrine by studying the Protestant Reformation that occurred 500 years ago.

APDoolittle: I have said several times that the Roman Catholic Church advocates salvation through works and faith but Justinian I and Trancestorm fail to listen. It's almost as if they question my knowledge of the chruch that I love and forever will defend.

Sydney_bristow87: A true Christian would never make half of the comments he has made. A true Christian would never say "Christians are evil". A direct quote by the way.

If he makes an insulting comment aimed at the Catholic Church/Christians/What have you, does that justify insulting the prophet Mohammed?

Thank you very much for your compliments, everkingly. I'm glad someone as faithful as you is on my side - Nay, on our Lord, Jesus Christs' side! :)

Sydney_bristow87, he is NEVER justified in insulting anyone else's beliefs. Such is unkind and contrary to Jesus Christs' teachings of love for one's neighbor.

I, for one, am very interested in Islam. I've always wished that there was an AP Comparative Religion course. I would definitely choose Christianity and Islam. Monotheistic religions are very interesting. While I am very devoted to my faith, I am also very open to the beliefs of others. Tolerance and prayer are our strongest defenses against the bigotry and ignorance in the world (some of which you have seen in this thread). I pray for you and the intentions of all good CCers ;)

Take care, and God bless you all!

-Jon :)

sydney_bristow87: Fight fire with fire. The only way to deal with a bigot is to give him a dose of his own medicine.

That bigot being JamesN.

Nods head in dismay NO everkingly! I thought you were better than that. You don't fight bigotry with bigotry. In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ taught us to pray for our enemies! I'm very disappointed in your suggestion. :(

While insulting those who weren't even involved? I think not. I'm not saying what James said was right, but fighting fire with fire will only cause twice as many fires. Both his and your posts were extremely offensive. Why doesn't one of you try to be the better person rather than throwing kindergarten level insults at each other? If you're going to resort to personal attacks, please attack the actual person, rather than insulting the beliefs of several billion Catholics and Muslims.

APDoolittle: Sorry and you are absolutely correct. It's just that my patience grows thinner every single time that JamesN makes another bigoted statement.

I'll be the bigger man. No more bigoted statements from me.

Exactly. Insulting other's beliefs isn't the way to go about things. In Islam, respect and good manners are vital.

If you have any questions about Islam, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to answer, as I'm sure the other Muslims on this board would be.

Everkingly: It's ok. Just relax. Breathe! And say a little prayer to yourself. Make sure you pray for JamesN. And then... just ignore whatever he says. If you would like to refute one of his assertions or clarify things, do so in a civilized way. Keep in mind that God would prefer that you handle faith issues calmly rather than angrily. You risk turning people away from faith in God by your actions. People may learn to associate your anger and impatience with a love for God. For the sake of all the lost souls out there, collect yourself and calm down. Thanks :)

An apology would be nice. Not just from you, James should apologize as well.

I agree. And if he does not, then we must all just let God take it into His hands and move on. :)

Can't agree more with what APDoolittle said.

Thanks Sydney :D !

So, I actually have a question about Islam. Ok, if Jesus (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken up to Heaven and if Mohammed (pbuh) was a man and died, then why does the latter have a much more important status than the former - considering that the former (Isa/Jesus, pbuh) was sinless?

I do not ask in a derogatory way. I truly am interested in your reply. Thanks in advance! :)

^^Not only that, but according to the Bible's teachings, Jesus also resurrected on the third day, as He said He would. Isn't that quite a feat? Did Mohammed resurrect also?

sydney_bristow87: I thought that my comment was indeed an apology. But if you need a more traditional "I'm sorry" apology then I am more than willing to give it to you. I'm sorry for my bigoted statement and for the record I really don't care if JamesN apologizes or not.

everkingly: If I were to take a rock and throw it through your car's windsheild, and then say, "Oh, I'm not gonna do that again," would you consider it an apology?

APDoolittle and 311Griff - thanks for asking :)

In Islam, we believe that Jesus (PBUH), just like Mohammad (PBUH), was a man, a messenger sent from God. We do not believe he was the literal son of God. We believe he will return to earth and restore peace and order, and bring victory for truth and righteousness.

Both Mohammed (PBUH) and Jesus (PBUH) are equally respected in Islam. We believe that all of the prophets taught the message of monotheism, were Muslim, and followed the way of Islam. All prophets invited humans to worship God alone and live a righteous life. We also believe that all of the prophets were sinless. However, the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was not only a messenger of God, but the last messenger of God.

In the Quran, it says:
“Say ye: we believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: we make no difference between one and another of them: and we bow to Allah (in Islam).” (Al-Baqarah: 136)

The Quran was the final revelation from God.
For every prophet, there was a particular miracle given, based on the needs and challenges that the prophet faced during his time - Jesus (PBUH) (in the Quran, it is made clear that these miracles were preformed only by the will of God), was able to ressurect and heal, Mohammad (PBUH) had the miracle of the Quran.

I hope that my answer was suitable. Please don't hesitate to ask if you want any clarification within this answer, or have more questions.
