How many of you believe in God?

I'm atheist.
Not really, because I'm not going to preach the nonexistance of a god, but I could really care less if it actually exists.

okay, I'll make sure I answer your questions but not tonight.

"And I missed you too (sans sarcasm)."
Did you really? I have to admit it is kind of boring without having someone to argue with and your other fellow atheists are disorganized without you (no offense to anyone).

I suppose Everkingly wants to flaunt his ownership of his Escalade. The theists here are somewhat embarrassing me. I often pine to be on the other side because at least the other people provide logical arguments. The theists here just bicker among themselves and get their feelings hurt. I am going to have to stop posting for a while. Anymore, I have close to four hours of homework. I will be back.

I've got a question for anyone who wants to field it:

How do we explain the fact that prior to the Abrahamic religious revolution, 90% of the earth was polytheistic? Why would an almighty God just allow 90% of His subjects to just spend millenia not believing in him?

Why didn't he send a messiah to East Asia? Africa? North America? (okay, excepting the Mormons, of course.)

Hey I got it! Because THERE IS NO GOD!!!!!

Justinian: Do the ad hominem attacks by your side get you down? :-/

Neverborn: Your side is equally responsible for ad hominem attacks. Even you are guilty of them. Remember your frequent labeling of your opponents as "trolls".

Justinian I:

No, I was not trying to flaunt my ownership of an escalade. You're just reading too much into it.

If you want to go on the other "side" then so go. Don't whine about it. I would rather have you on the other "side" than on my "side".

"The theists here just bicker among themselves and get their feelings hurt. "

What bickering? Are you still on about how we should not apologize. I greatly disagree with you. First of all, this is a message board for a discussion and not necessarily for a debate. Secondly, I made statements that were ad hominem attacks that I know are inappropriate. Therefore, I apologized. End of story. There is no need for you to try to make this discussion into an uncivilized debate.

"I am going to have to stop posting for a while."

Good, let's keep it that way.

"I will be back."

I hope not.

Neverborn: Your side is equally responsible for ad hominem attacks. Even you are guilty of them. Remember your frequent labeling of your opponents as "trolls".

So what do you say to that, neverborn?

Are you going to call me a troll?

Gosh, I can't help but to post about this one. W1cked, you have yet to post anything of value here other than childish remarks. I can bet anyone here a dollar that W1cked is troll. Secondly, Everkingly, it is quite self - evident that you were flaunting the ownership of your vehicle. Why then would you post the certain brand name of your automobile?
And for posterity, your claims of being such a "staunch" Christian are quite hypocritical with remarks such as "I hope not" and "Lets keep it that way"

The people that are trolls are trolls - you aren't, 1000Fists and JamesN ARE. That's not an ad hominem attack. Christ. /eyeroll

First of all, I drive an escalade. Secondly, if you really did mean that you would never do it again, I would consider it an apology. An apology does not have to be the traditional I'm sorry approach. I said I wouldn't make bigoted comments anymore because I know that they are offensive and detract from our debate. I am obviously sorry.

Well. An Escalade. That changes everything, doesn't it?
If I'd thrown a rock through the windshield of your ESCALADE, somehow I don't think you would have been happy enough to accept my "I won't do that again" as an apology. That's beside the point, anyway.

Let's take the last sentence of your post, where you said you wouldn't make bigoted comments anymore. What would you call "I know it's hard for non-christians and non-buddhists to understand nonviolence"? (posted in another thread)

You posted that AFTER you said you wouldn't make bigoted comments.

"I won't do it again."
Not much of an apology if I throw a second rock through the window of your car, is it?

In Islam, it is believed that God sent many messengers throughout the ages. Twenty five are directly mentioned in the Quran, and hadith says that there were 125,000 sent throughout history.

Then why don't they all follow Islam?

People, religion is personal. No two Muslims, no two Christians, no two Jews, no two Buddhists, no two Mormons, no two (insert ANY religion) are exactly the same in their beliefs. It is futile to argue personal religious belief, nor is it worthwhile. Now, if you are just sharing factual knowledge about a religion, then so be it, but to fight and argue about who's beliefs are more correct or who's beliefs are better than who's is completely pointless...I'm surprised some of you haven't figured this out yet...your arguments are getting you nowhere except frustrated and upset, because personal religious conviction doesn't belong in an argument.

By 'they' do you mean the prophets or the people?

Sorry mate I am not a troll..I am just sick of posting rebuttals to theist arguements..check www.bskzone.com, under the handle "hitman", and protestwarrior forums under w1cked handle. I just don't feel like repeating same stuff..seriously..One thing I learnt; no matter how or what you argue, you absolutely cannot change another person's view or get them to agree with you, so whats the point?

Perhaps not here, but these debates help us see other viewpoints (not only on the opposing side, but from people who agree with us as well). While it may not cause a drastic change of mind, it might make us see certain things differently, or it might make us think of new ways to counter/help the argument. It can help us if we debate someone else, maybe in real life.
And finally, it gives us a chance to exercise our God-given brains. (If you haven't seen my previous posts, see if you can pick out my stance!)

Not really, imho. I've certainly gained a lot from arguing about belief systems - not from one post or even one person, but over time.
