How many of you got emails from Columbia Engineering?

<p>I woke up this morning to find an email from Columbia Engineering ( Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS)), sent by a dean, none the less. Should I be hopeful, think I'm one of the few chosen ones and apply? As far as I know it's pretty difficult to get through. So I'd like to know if this was just a part of a mass mailing spam kind of thing, or if I really stand a good chance?</p>

<p>I did pretty decently on my GRE- 167 in Quant, 165 in Verbal, and 5.5 in writing. </p>

<p>Any insights?</p>

<p>Sorry to disappoint. It’s called marketing. You well may have an excellent chance – but the receipt of the email is not the sign of that.</p>

<p>I think my GRE score is good enough. What kind of GPA/ work ex, projects should I have if I want to get into one of the top 20 engineering schools?</p>

<p>I got that as well. So its definitely marketing. So don’t feel like ooh Columbia sent me an email, they must like me.</p>

<p>scarlett: in your search for grad pgms, I think your time is best spent looking at those programs’ websites for criteria list – this forum is mostly for undergrad</p>
