How many people are on the frosh waitlist for Fall 2013?

It’s nice to know. I felt like I didn’t really have something “new” to write on my appeal so I decided not to turn it in, however does anybody know if your major affects your waitlist decision. I know they say it doesn’t for regular decision, but what if your on the waitlist and you applied for an impact major like me, for microbiology.

@vanessha, what major did you apply for?
@cgsw23 what about you?

SAT 2050, GPA 3.7 W. SO-Cal resident. Still shows me on waiting list.

I applied as Undeclared for Letters & Science. I don’t know whether the major will affect your waitlist decision but i doubt it, unless you have applied for engineering or something like that

@wantucsb, nah dude. i feel you. same here

I am so worried. I am still on the list. If it rejected me, I have to go to a community college and transfer there 2 years after. i dont want to end up like this

I called the admissions office today and they said that the rest of the waitlist decisions will be sent out this Friday.

“the rest of the waitlist”… doesnt sound too promising.

Sounds like a bunch of rejections… but who knows

@theshowgoeson … exactly. i hope not though.

did anyone find out how many spots there are for the waitlist this year?

If I don’t get into UCSB, I am going to community college. No point in paying high fees to UCSC and UCR.

Omg! Same here!!!

to those waiting to get admitted, I have the info about acceptances. today I called Santa Barbara admissions office and the lady told me that all spots are filled. she will find it more if spaces will be available on the tenth. I think the reason Is because ucsb started sending out acceptances from the waitlist on May 3, all students have one week to apply. by May 10, the will know if all waitlist applicants opted in. therefore, the only chance to get in now is if those offered acceptance from the waitlist reject their offer.

So just like that its over…

Im on the waitlist and have not heard anything from ucsb and im just going to accept the fact that i got rejected. Even if there is space left, the number of spaces would be so small that our chances of gettin in after may 10 are VERY small, lets not forget that ucsb sent out more than 3000 waitlist, so if they accepted maybe like 330 like last year and if there are space we have to realize that its not only us hoping to get in, so for me my hopes are over.

same here. i’ve kind of accepted that fact already. i think this year in general just got much harder. i asked my college counselor and she said it was probably because of the dream act. This year, there are about 10,000 more applicants per school.
lesson is, have backup schools. and have backups for your backups.
i have a friend who has like a 4.4gpa and 2380 and got rejected from some schools, while others who got like a 4.2gpa got in. nothings really secure anymore, so for future reference to any students. make sure you have A LOT of backups. it’ll probably pay off when trying to decide colleges. you rather be undecided because you have alot of choices to choose from than be undecided because you’re choosing between few undesirable (last choice) schools.

@tawnyt but do you know how many people got off the waitlist on May 3rd?

when i called the lady wouldn’t tell me. she only says “we dont have that information” but i called specifically asking for microbiology. she said there weren’t any spots lets at all. and she says that all they can do is wait for spots to open, then they’ll choose from the waitlist again. they say they “dont accept by majors” but i highly doubt it. if a major is too impacted, they probably wont accept anymore.

Can’t they change the status from wait-listed to rejected on their portal? just send us rejection letter and get over with it.
