How many schools are you applying to for transfer

Hey CC,
I am a second year at a California Community College student and I am in the process of filling out applications for transfer. My major is Accounting, and I am applying to 8 schools, I am really thinking of cutting it down to 6 or even just 5, but I am just scared of not getting in anywhere.
I currently have a 3.9 GPA, and I have a few extra-curricular activities that I am going to list on my app.
So I was wondering how many schools are other transfers applying to?

Six so far.

Probably 11 but I haven’t really decided yet.

I think what is more important is what schools you are applying to, not how many. If you are applying to only UCs you will probably get in. I heard that they recommend you apply to at least 4 UCs because you will probably get into at least one of them.

But if you are applying to only Ivy League schools or something of course your chances of being accepted are a lot lower.

I’m mainly looking to apply to UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Riverside , University of Southern California, San Jose State, Long Beach State, and San Diego State.
I tagged to Riverside so technically I will have already gotten into one, but the others I am not so sure. This list could change as in throwing out some, adding new ones, etc…

2 maybe 3. It depends on how well I do this semester.

@mermaker, are those ones you know you will very likely get into, or are you currently at a four-year and will just stay if you don’t get into them?

Since it costs about $60 for each application, I’m only going to apply to school where I would go if I get accepted. I’m currently at a CC. I tagged UCSC, so I’m pretty sure I’m in at that school. I’m also going to apply to UCSB, and If I get in, I’ll go there.

Hard to say at the moment, though the only ones I have in mind right now are Texas A&M and UT Austin since I can’t think of anything else at the moment with a 3.5-3.8 GPA.

Only applying to 3 due to two major constraints:

 1. Have to stay local.
 2. Offer desired major or comparable program.

If it weren’t for #1, I would probably apply to 8 total.

I applied to 2 (Michigan and Michigan State). It made sense to me because I didn’t see myself going out of state, and application costs add up quickly if you apply to 5+ schools when you’ll only be attending one.

I applied to one school for Spring '13. If I don’t get in I’ll sapply to 5 or 6 for the fall.

I have applied to 3. Portland State U, Depaul University & Loyola U Chicago. It was 4, but I looked at it again and realized that the program I was looking at wasn’t the extremely high tuition/cost-of-living. Now I am axiously waiting for a reply to my 3.

applying to just one school for spring.

I go to a community college in seattle, wa and i’m planning on applying to 5 schools.
University of Washington (Sort of my safety school)
UC-Berkeley
UCLA
U-Mich
Georgia Tech.
I’m just taking my chance and hoping to get accepted to at least one of the last four schools. Just submitted my application for U-Mich yesterday for fall,2013 term.
Do any of you know how long U-Mich’s admission process take?

I’m applying to all of the UC’s except Merced and Riverside. And, additionally, 15 privates…I know it’s a lot haha.
@kevinsalee: I e-mailed U of Michigan and they told me that they begin making decisions in January.

I applied to 6
Cal Poly Pomona
CSU Long Beach
San Diego State University
UC Riverside
University of La Verne
CSU Fullerton

I’m only applying to one: University of South Carolina-Columbia. There are only 3 public universities in South Carolina that offer a Social Work major, and SC is my top choice (and where I’ll most likely go) if accepted (which I think I have a good chance at, since Social Work is such a small department at SC with only 143 undergrad students in the Social Work major, compared to the 30,000 student population at the school). I’m also an in-state student at a community college who has taken most of the gen. eds for the Social Work major, and I also have a 3.2 GPA, and the required major for admission to the Social Work program is a 2.25. I’d like to think that I have a decent shot at admission. Wish me luck!

As of right now, 4 schools. UIUC, UW Madison, Iowa, and Miami U (florida).
