Now that May 1st has past, does anyone know how many students enrolled into MIT? I know MIT is looking to enroll 1050 +/-50. I want to know if I should give of hope of being selected off the waitlist.

May 1st has passed, but it takes time to sort things out =D

there are 887 in the facebook group for what it's worth.

I hope the 887 students that are part of the MIT Facebook group have also been accepted to other universities and hopefully some will find a better match in these other universities. I am in the facebook groups of some of my accepted colleges eg, Cornell, Duke, Columbia, CMU but I could only choose 1 of them.

yeah about over 100 peopled left the group in the last several days. But not everyone going is in the group. As of now, you won't know if they'll take anyone from the waitlist.... so just wait several more days for the official word from MIT blogs!

To be fair, a lot of people don't have Facebooks...

Yup, you cannot rely junt on Facebook. It's bound to selectivity bias.

Yeah, and I'm a facebook admin and we haven't even gone through the group to kick out people who aren't going yet. So the number in the group might be shrinking soon.

Moral of the story: Facebook lies.

Duke and Columbia have already tapped into their waitlist. Hopefully it will be a good year for waitlisted PPL!

Ya go waitlist.
