What's the "cutoff" for UVa for the number of times you take the SAT?

I took the Dec. SAT, and my scores weren't that great, so I'm planning to take it at least once more. If it doesn't hurt my chances of getting into UVa, I'd like to take it two more times (total of three times). Do any of you know if they look down on kids who took it more than twice?

"the colleges" aren't omnipotent, all-seeing beings. chances are that the data from your app are collected and organized by secretarial staff. the people making decisions would likely never see how many times you sat for it. regardless, a lot of admissions people don't care. one of the deans of admission at princeton told me that they really didn't care, and that he remembered admitting a girl who'd taken the sat six times between her sophomore and senior years. from their point of view, if you're capable of getting a 1450, you're capable of getting a 1450. which school is more competitive, UVA or princeton?

Princeton by a long shot -- no doubt. It tops with Harvard and the other top ivys. Plus, Princeton's a smaller school, so it's a lot harder to get in (acceptance rate for Princeton is about 11%, UVa is about 38%).

Although I have read a number of articles that advise against taking the SAT more than 3 times, I know a kid who took it five times and got into UVA ED this year, so they really don't seem to care.

i recently met with a uva rep and she said that they could really care less how many times you take the sat. she said they look for your highest score in both sections, circle it, and move on.
