I took the SAT twice already and did fairly well my first time, above the West Point Averages. I took it again the other day and felt pretty confident about my scores. Does it reflect badly if I take the test as many times as possible because I wont be happy until I have either perfect scores or I've been accepted to the academy, I tend to have an all or nothing personality. So my question is would taking it 4-5 times look bad? Even if I had already done well on the first two tests.

My son (now a plebe) took the ACT seven times, I think. The admissions office evaluates your record based on the highest SAT/ACT scores reported. I would encourage you take the test as many times as practical. You might also consider taking the ACT. Admissions will consider your highest SAT scores or you highest ACT score whichever ever benefits you the most. Also note that admissions tracks sub-scores not total scores. In other words, if you take the test one time and do well on the verbal but not so well on the math and then you take the test again and do well on the math, they will record the high verbal from the first test and the high math from the second test.

I just met a recent WP grad who said he had taken the SAT 11 times before receiving an appointment. There’s something to be said for persistence.

My ACT is 34.

All sub scores come from one test. It might have given me some advantage I don’t know.

My 3 SATII’s:

Math2 800,
Chemistry 800,
Physics 800.

Don’t know if these were considered in the process.

I felt that this year’s competition was very strong, especially after Forbes top rating…
