I went crazy last year, so I don't have to buy anything this year. Woot! No dodging crazy moms this year!

Why do you need to buy books? Are you guys in college already or is it just your highschool doesn't provide reusable txt books????

Nice, i would have done the same, but i did it this year :()

i think they are idiots for buying books, they claim its cause they go to a PRIVATE SCHOOL but i go to a public school so i dont have too

you have to buy books in college, i don't see anyone complaining about how crappy harvard is for making you buy books
sean, just because someone is willing to spend money on something he or she considers worthwhile does NOT make that person an idiot. it just makes that person different from certain people (ie, you) which isn't a bad thing.

I think it's interesting and cool but I didn't think private High schools don't provide books for free. Thanks for clearing that

well some do. my private high school provides certain textbooks for free. they also organize a used book sale every year for the benefit of the students, and they also buy back a lot of the books from students at the end of the year (i made 50 bucks off that this year, and my books were in crap condition)

Its something called AMAZON and BORDERs, Barrons has the best books and you can tons of other books, and ya!

sean: i'm confused, what is the point of your post?

You can by books else where!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY school provides us with TEXT BOOKS!!!

i do buy my books on amazon...and congratulations on your school providing your text books, i guess

Thank you for the Cross country advice.
I found the advice to be very useful!!!

I go to a public school, so its free for textie( TEXT) books.

what it the point of all sean's post about free textbooks....most of us who go to private schools enjoy our schools and don't mind buying our textbooks...i definetly don't mind because then i can highlight and write notes in my books all i want. Plus i've went to public school and most charge textbook rental fees mine was once $200. Whereas my textbooks for my private school are only $400 and when I do sell back at the end of the year I'll get around $250 for the amount of books i have so I'll actually end up with more money in the end than if I'd have decided to continue with public education...plus my school is better thanthat public school i would've went to

No, no, no. You don't understand.
sean gets free textie books!

Is there an "underground" market of sorts for the Private school books? Can not you folks go online and buy your books on the cheap, or is it a rule that you have to buy them at the school? I am just curious. My niece is going to go to public school for half a day and then go to University the other half of the day. For her University books, we went on Amazon and whatnot. But her public school books are free even though she is going to be going to the top ranked public school in my city.

So I am just curious about the private school books. Is it against a rule or something to buy them online used or whathaveyou?

Thank you alannacp and mer you use the text books that the SCHOOL gives you:)

the thing is most private schools don't offer free textbooks we have to order them. Yes I brought my books from mutliple places including mbs direct (my schools system, amazon, ebay, and barnes and nobles but with the amount of books i have to order it still is round $300-$400 dollars. If I'd have ordered them from my school they'd have been $400-$500 dollars. In private school it just depends on the classes ur taking.

This site is good for books, it is like the google of cheap book searching...

http://www.bigwords.com/

mbs direct is bad, they said two of my near perfect condition books were worth 4dollars!
