How much bearing does a preferred roommate have on housing decisions at this point?

Hey guys, so me and my friend put down each others' UTEIDs on our housing apps so that we could room together, and I believe we also checked off something that essentially said "we would rather be roommates than get a better housing preference", which I assume means "if theres a spot in my top choice dorm, but for only 1 person, then I'll be assigned one of my less favorite dorms to accommodate us both".

So I'm wondering, how much bearing will that have on my housing assignment this late in the game? We waited till early may to apply for housing (both of us had other college offers on the table), and it took forever just to get our contracts, so we've only JUST now completed our applications and meningitis forms and such. In light of that, I assume almost everyone finished their stuff before us. Do you think there are a lot of rooms left with space for 2 people, or just single spots left?

Sooo, for example, I have (1)Duren (2)San Jac (3)Moorehill (4)Brack,Roberts,Prather (5)Jester West. I realize that I'm not getting 1 or 2, obviously, but what do you think the odds are that there are, say, a bunch of spots available in (3) or (4) for just a single person to room with another unpaired single person, but no more rooms left with space for me AND my roommate? I'd hate to get Jestered instead of my 3 and 4 just because I wanna pair with him.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
-Michael

You’re probably going to be in Jester, regardless of whether you selected roommate priority or not.

Moore hill then BRP dorms are probably the next popular ones after san jac and duren, but they’re smaller so get filled up fast. I’d say that this late in the game, you’ll probably get jester. But if you don’t like your assignment, then both of you could try to get a place in Dobie, they usually have rooms still available after UT housing assignments are made
