Hey, I’m a junior right now and have taken the ACT twice already and will be taking it once more. I currently have a 31 superscore (35E, 24M, 35R, 31S) and will be applying to some more selective liberal arts colleges (Williams - considering ED’ing, Bowdoin, Middlebury, etc.) in the fall. I’d most likely be applying as an anthropology, sociology, or environmental studies major and am worried about my math score. All of my schools superscore and are test optional, but I’d ideally like to send in a test score as my underfunded school’s average is a 17. I think in the upcoming test I’d be able to score at least one point higher in any section, bumping me to a 32 composite. Will that number matter to these schools? Or will they look down upon a 24/25 math score, even if I’m not applying for a math-intensive major? And will a 32 be okay to send even its in the 25% percentile or lower if its the very top of the scores from my high school? Thanks for your help
Some schools look at subsets. Some total. You want to study stidy stidy mainly math. If you can get that up to a 29/30 you’ll feel a lot better and have a higher composite.
You can see on a schools’ss website or ask on an info session how they look at it.
I would not submit a 24 to a top school.
Do you have a hook ? URM, athlete or something else ??
Yes, URM and what I would argue an under-represented state
Look into questbridge as many recommended as well as schools that meet need.
Often the top schools have fly in programs for URMs. Google your school and fly in and you’ll find something like this.
