<p>I have heard (on this board last year) that UCLA and UCB will request winter grades from a student in close cases. It is not their ordinary practice, but it certainly does happen. You will get a request from them if you somehow are in this category.</p>
<p>The top UCs will request midyear reports from those who are on the edge. Plus, they see them at the end of the year, and if they aren't up to par, they can rescind your admission.</p>
