Got into LSA and Ross Pre-Admit, plan to live on-campus.

I love playing basketball, flag football, etc. so I'm wondering if I go to U-M, will I be expecting consistent pickup games in my free time?

You seriously got into Mich without knowing the answer to that question?

Michigan has over 1,000 clubs and organizations, many of which are athletic in nature.

@Recharge haha I’m very uninformed

@Alexandre I think you misread my question or maybe I worded it badly. I was wondering student involvement in unorganized sporting events. Like say I decide to go to the gym on a Thursday night to play basketball, am I going to expect good pickup games?

gngstazn, it depends on the time and day. How can anybody answer your question absolutely? With 25,000 undergrads, you are bound to find a group for anything at Michigan.

I’m probably going there next year and I love playing pick up sports and I definetly cannot be the only one out of all the students. So your definetly going to find people playing sports.

if you are looking for serious competition, you need to join an IM league, some of the IM basketball and soccer leagues are really intense, one of my friend’s IM soccer teams had 3 or 4 players from our high school state championship team, and they literally wrecked everyone in the IM league lol, and other teams had alot of former varsity players too

ok im definitely not looking for that kind of competition lol, just your average pickup game is satisfying enough for me :D

Ask Rich Rodriguez or John Beilein. Our football and basketball teams could use all the help they can get. :D

In my experience, it’s been pretty easy.

You might want to consider joining a club, as they meet regularly to play sports in a non-competitive setting (such as the pick-up sports club [yes, it exists] , ethnic clubs, and social clubs).

basketball at the CCRB is consistent if you are talented enough.

gngstazn, the basketball courts are almost always full, but it’s easy to play next game with the people. This happens every weekend, I don’t know about weekdays. I suspect there’s less people, but definitely there are 2-3 full court games going on.
