How much do they pay attention to grades? rop

for admissions…my grades aren’t too stellar. I’d say around 3.5 uw.

how much do they overlook this? my sats are pretty good (2230) and i have some average/borderline good ecs that show a passion (but nothing like intel, or a national award, or something) .i noticed the average gpa they admit is a 3.9 uw! or is that weighted? It’s definitely where I want to go barnard is my DREAM school & I just want to know if it’s worth a shot.

and ALSO, I’m a sophomore in high school. Hopefully I’ll be able to improve my gpa by the end of my junior year but if it stays this way (becuase it’s hard for me to improve and by the looks of it, it probably will) i want to know. thanks!!

Please know that I am just a "mom", but I would say that if your grades show improvement and your classes are among the most challenging offered, you would be more likely to be considered. But it's my impression that Barnard looks beyond scores on standardized tests to the individual's record and their interests in order to determine if they would be a "fit". It's good that you are a Sophomore, so work hard to be sure that your grades show a sure and steady INCLINE (and certainly not the opposite), and then just go for it.

Best to you!!!

Ditto churchmusicmom's sentiments. Barnard seems to look for a diverse class of students. Everyone is very bright (your SATs show that you are); but all too had a certain spark, a certain difference in background and perspective. Think about how you can improve your GPA, but also pursue your passions. Show that you are interested in the wider world around you-possibly through a demonstrated talent.
