How much $$$ do you spend in college per week?

Wow.. I spend like $40 or so in a week and Im a sophomore =/ THis isn't lookin' good. *Sophomore in HIGH SCHOOL =/

I'm a high schooler and I spend $0 per week. My parents pay for my clothing and provide food at home. I ride a bicycle so I don't need any gas or insurance money. Cars are huge money drains. I go to the library for books and cds.

well, yeah, in high school i spent like maybe $10-20 a month --

I'm a sophomore in high school; I probably spend $40 -- $50 a month or so.

$50/week
..$30 of which is gas :(

Why isnt anyone factoring in rent, do we all live at home?

Most of us live in dorms. I didn't factor it in because a) my parents pay for it and b) it is paid for just twice during the year

I spent about $40 a week last month and I am projected to spend about $100 a week this month since there were some club fees and software purchases.

attending college out of state, and most weeks i spend $0, this week i spent $10 on a book of stamps. our school offers free movie screenings and lots of good on campus dining options so my friends and i don't ever eat out, though there are people here that do often. i don't really shop; i brought all the clothes i needed from home. occasionally i may spend 7 dollars in a week if i take the bart to my aunt's house. being out of state at Cal means being on a strict budget!

$380/week including everything except education costs, some medical costs, and excluding a car (this is food, rent, utilities, phone, clothing, movies, prescriptions, doctor visits, everything else needed for life) -- but i've just gone through an expensive round of grad school applications plus some dental appointments recently and went flying home to see my paretns a bit too often -- so the real estimate may be a bit less for an average week

so i'm estimating that if you get a salary of about 25-30K, this is quite enough for one person per year not leading a lavish life but not being cheap on everything either

I don't think $100 is unreasonable. My parents are giving me $200 a month, so that's $50 a week, though I can spread it out however I want. If I fill my gas tank up once a week, that's $40 right there, though I might not take my car to college the first semester, and even if I do I won't be driving nearly as much as I am now. Also, if you plan on having a social life off campus, going out can be expensive. Dinner for one person at a nice restaurant is usually around $10, plus any cover charge if you go to a club. Plus, you need money for the laundry machines, and some petty cash for vending machines or drive thrus, as I don't think everyone always eats in the cafeterias.

Some weeks may not be that expensive, but others will be. You have to think about buying new clothes every now and then as the seasons change, perhaps getting some books or CDs, buying Christmas/birthday gifts for people, driving or flying home during breaks... so even if you only spend $5 one week, another week you might spend $300. I don't think people should expect college life to be really cheap.

I agree with herecomesthesun. I say I spend 100 a week on average, but once in awhile I really only spend 10 or 20 that week. And then there's bigger weeks, like when you buying a $40 ticket to a concert or a plane ticket home
