I know this varies hugely from person to person so I'm just asking to get an idea from a 'sample' of people so I know how much money I'll need.

How much do you spend in total per semester (not including tuition and room/board)?

Living on campus or off?

^ and what school and town?

It really depends per person. For food, it was not uncommon for me to spend about 60 a month when i was on the meal plan…

Fwiw- I usually spend about $150/month on food for two people. $40-50 on gas. Probably ~$70 on non-grocery foods (I eat out way too much). And under $50 on everything else.

This doesn’t include bills or anything.

More than you expect. Things come up that you can’t really anticipate. Try to save at least a few hundred dollars for a rainy day.

I spend around $50/wk on food, though I eat out most of the time Other than that I don’t have many bills or anything…I spend a lot on concert tickets and partying. And cigarettes, which totally sucks. I guess I spend maybe $50 a week not on food, sometimes more if there’s a special occasion or opportunity.

I commuted this last year. Besides gas and car insurance, my main expenses have been about $4 a day for lunch, plus a couple hundred dollars kicked in to the common pools of various activities I participated in.

I’m not really trying to tailor the question to my particular situation, I’m trying to get an idea of what people around the country (or world) do.

Well, I live at home with my parents and attend a local CC, so I pay about $1300 per term (tuition, books, everything).

Probably $10-30 a week on random stuff that comes up. I also like to buy coffee and we have a really strict meal plan time-frame, so I also spend money on getting snacks. And then random purchases of soap, paper, laundry, etc.
