How much does Chicago's adcom rock?

I just wanted to make this thread in the midst of the last-minute application frenzy. The adcom at Chicago is actually one of the reasons I decided to apply. The most friendly and available one I've encountered, for sure. I just emailed the Dean of Admissions for some help and he answered promptly, on a Saturday at like 10:00 or whatever. Cool. I'd put say this in my application except it'd totally look like I'm sucking up.

yep, the adcom is veovy noice

I got a handwritten Christmas(err, holiday) card from my regional admissions counselor, wishing me a happy holidays and also saying how it's clear from my application that UChicago would be a good fit for me.

I actually had this whole thing in my Why Chicago about my first impression of the campus being the really nice adcoms while I was sitting there waiting my interview, terrified, but then I realized how much that looked like I was sucking up even though it was completely true and one of my strongest impressions of the campus, so I took it out.

They're the best. Dean O'Neill's speeches and truly personal dealings with applicants and prospectives are reason enough to go to the school.

How do so many people contact the admissions office and get letters from adcom counselors, etc? I come from a podunk town in Southern MN, applied early, asked for an interview, and was told there was no one available! I am not terribly upset, cuz I got in, but I feel no one cares about me :( Just curious.

PS, I visited campus and sent in my Basic Info Form like a month in advance.

It was nothing personal. I got the same letter, a form email from my regional director, because no Chicago alumni lived near me. Too bad; I bet it would have been fun.

Jerew:

I'm in MN too (larger area though). I think that our adcom (Gerald P. Doyle) is just fairly busy. IL gets their own adcom I believe and the rest of the midwest is stretched fairly thin (although chicago draws a fair amount of applicants I would think). He also is the one who seems to oversee much of the online application processing. I don't think he ever emailed me back and I never got a holiday card from him but the woman that interviewed me was great and I recieved email from other admissions people when I was dealing with missing credentials.

I was never contacted about an interview either, but I got in.
