I am an Econ major wanting to transfer to an upper tier UC by Fall 2012. I have already completed 26.5 units (18.5 transferable) so far and just have started taking Honors classes this semester. (Two classes, 6 units)

I will probably have to take extra Arts/Humanities and Social Sciences classes to meet the required 18 Honors units for TAP. (probably won't be able to deal with Honors math or science)

Is it worth the extra hassle of 3 or 4 extra classes (excluding this upcoming semester) to complete TAP?

Definitely. I had a 4.0 going into the UC Application process without my Honors courses, but I decided to take them, just to get that edge and be on the safe side. TAP made me a priority for the Admission committee at UCLA, and I’m glad, even though I did get into my first choice of Psychobiology.

Oh, and the Honors work is interesting, I learned a lot last semester. I kept my 4.0 as well.

It only helps borderline students in impacted majors. It offers no tangible benefit once you actually transfer (also think internships/jobs/grad school).

I took TAP. Best decision I ever made. It opened up a lot of opportunities for me. In my CC we have an Honors Core program, where the same core group of students takes a full year of classes together. (2 in the fall, 2 in the spring)

The people I met, the networking contacts I made, and the better quality of teaching I received was all worth it. I improved dramatically as a writer, and built an impressive bunch of EC’s that I got the chance to do all by being part of the Honors program.

I like Honors Classes better than regular classes. Its a little more work/writing, but the classes are more in depth and the students in the class are much more focused.

I’m TAPing, the only problem is I have to retake Stats failed it once taking it online fall 2008 then got a D retaking it in person at a local college fall 2009, both times bad personal problems got in the way. I was gonna retake it this fall and fix it but it’s being offered as an Honors course in the Spring, which would look a LOT better so I’m dropping it for the fall to take some other stuff. I still need to take Chem, Spanish and Physics (Physics may be an Honors course too in the Spring). Problem is, Chem is in the way of one of the 6 honors courses and there’s no gaurentee that I’ll be able to take honors courses in the Winter. My issue there is UCLA might not pre-admit me with 2 Pre-reqs not done or in progress until Spring and that D is killing my GPA. (Sad thing I coulda taken Psych 002 Honors when I retook it and got an A mwaahahaa).

Long ramble short, TAP’s definitely worth it

No tap is for people who dont have 4.0s because they are dum. :P

Definitely worth it, I think the only reason I was admitted to UCLA with my 3.5 was soley because of TAP.

It doesn’t hurt that you also have smaller classes, an equally motivated student body and a little more challenging work load.
