For all the current NYU kids out there, I'm just wondering how much financial aid you got and, if you don't mind saying, how much is your family's yearly income? (<20,000, <60,000, >100,000, etc etc)

It's getting so expensive, especially for Tisch which is like a whole 4 grand more expensive than CAS. I'm just trying to get a sense of how much NYU would give me, if I got in. My family income is >20,000. I wanted to get into HEOP but I think my SAT scores are too high...

while i dont get any, i know quite a few Stern and Tisch students who get about $7,000-$10,000 from the NYU school even though they are just lower middle class students. The most I heard is $20,000. most financial aid and scholarships from NYU if not all of them are need-based. assuming you get $20,000 as aid, you still pay about $18,000 to $30,000 more depending if you dorm or not and other small little things. the best you can do is SEARCH for external scholarships. im sure there are scholarships around for low-income students.

my son, currently a Cas sophomore, received a 15K trustee scholarship and a 15K carroll and milton Petrie scholarship. Add in my EFC and work study and Perkins and stafford loans, and you get to the total of about 52K.

FWIW, his SAT was 2250 (1530 without the writing).

That sounds very reasonable. Keep them coming guys! Thanks!

I'm applying to every outside scholarship I can find, but how much does NYU take off for every scholarship you get? if you get a $5,000 per year scholarship for example, will NYU take 5K off your financial aid package?

In the ED Financial Aid form, what did you guys put down for estimated scholarships section? I'm applying but it's not certain that I'll get any.

NYU doesn't know your external scholarships unless you told them about it. if you had more than you need, then they probably prefer to use that scholarship money than theirs. But if you have just the right amount, i dont think they will take it away since it doesnt make sense to make someone pay more because they have an external scholarship. that isnt what financial aid supposed to be like. just my opinion.

I am applying to CAS this Fall as a Transfer Student. My EFC is 0 and my twin is also attending college at the same time as me, so would NYU give me a decent to good amount of Financial Aid? The most I am able to pay per year is 5 to 7 thousand per year. Do you think it can happen?
