I am a sophomore and just scored a 185 on the PSAT. For people who had similar scores in their sophomore year, how much improvement did you see on your SAT results. And is a 185 good for a sophomore by any means for not studying. The breakdown was 67 M 65 CR 53 W
I had basically the same stats as you did my sophomore year, and like you, I didn’t really study for it. I studied fairly hard for it and the actual SAT-- the prep is really the same for both, the SAT is just a lot longer-- and I ended up with a 217, although you could probably do better. A 185 is pretty good for a sophomore, especially if you didn’t study. You’ll improve as you get more familiar with the test and as you learn and develop over the next year. My issue a lot of times (and the reason I didn’t get an 80 in math) was always making stupid mistakes. The more you practice, the less likely you are to make careless mistakes, as the test doesn’t phase you as much.
Thanks @venator15 I hope to see as much improvement as you did!
I had a practice SAT of around 1950 freshman year and this junior year PSAT I got a 223
(That was my first time taking the PSAT)
First time I ever looked at anything SAT related was the PSAT in my sophmore year. I scored 189.
Took it again this year and got a 234, so 45 point improvement overall. It just took getting used to the test, I think.
